What can I do with Quickbrowse?
Quickbrowse is all about saving you time by combining content that matters to you inside a
Collection Page for much faster viewing. There are several Quickbrowse applications that
let you do this in different ways: myQuickbrowse, qbNewsstand, qbSearch and qbPortals
(formerly "qbSelections").
What is "Quickbrowse Mode"?
When turning a Web page into "Quickbrowse Mode", you can first select all the
link/items/thumbnails that you are interested in and then view them all combined
into a single Quickbrowse Page. In Quickbrowse
Mode multiple links are "collected" for later quickbrowsing simply by clicking
on several of them. By downloading the Quickbrowse Plug-in
or installing the Quickbrowse This button [link], you can turn any Web page
currently displayed in your browser into Quickbrowse Mode. Whenever Quickbrowse
displays a Quickbrowse Page (multiple pages
combined into a single page), a "Quickbrowse This" button hovering in the bottom
right corner also allows toggling that Quickbrowse
Page into Quickbrowse Mode. For instance, many users have Quickbrowse pages
[link] containing different sections of newspapers with story headlines. By
switching to Quickbrowse Mode on such a page, multiple headlines can be selected
to build a second Quickbrowse page containing all
the individual stories selected. The hovering Quickbrowse This button on
Quickbrowse pages is only available for Internet Explorer / Windows users.

What is the difference between a "Quickbrowse
Page" and a "Quickbrowse Collection"?
When using Quickbrowse to combine multiple Web pages into one single page (by
virtually stitching the individual pages together), the resulting page
containing all the individual pages is called a "Quickbrowse Page." The set of
Web addresses making up a Quickbrowse Page can be assigned a name and saved as a
"Quickbrowse Collection". This has the advantage of not having to re-enter the
same Web addresses everytime you want to view a particular set of Web pages as a
Quickbrowse Page.

When I click on the links in my "Quickbrowse-Page"
(the page in which all other pages get combined), separate windows open for
each link. Why is that?
This trick allows even faster browsing. Immediately after clicking on a
link, hit ALT-TAB (or if you America Online's built-in browser, CTRL-F6).
This instantly gets you back to your "Quickbrowse Page" so you can keep
browsing. While you do that, Quickbrowse is busily opening the links you've
selected in separate windows.
This means: click a link, jump back to peruse more headlines, click
another link, jump back . . . and while you're perusing, we're loading the
items you want to see. No need to wait. By the time you've scanned the
headlines and clicked four or five links, the first one, at least, will be
ready to read. And by the time you've read the first one, all the others
will have loaded, too.
Talking about what happens when you click on links, you might be interested
in the "Quickbrowse This" option: you first click on
all links that you're interested in and then click on a button to view all
the pages combined in another Collection Page.

How do I schedule automated email deliveries of
collections? What is this good for?
When saving a collection you are given the option to have it sent to you by
email at preset times (for instance every day). This is useful if you don't want
to forget looking at a collection regularly. If you set a daily delivery, it
will be waiting in your email in-box every morning.
Clicking on the "advanced" button in the email delivery menu, you get
options in addition to "daily" and "weekly", like setting a certain hour for
the delivery, or certain weekdays. In the advanced menu, you can also
control whether you a delivery comes as an attachment (that's the default
setting), "inline" (i.e. you can view the collection from inside your email
software if it is capable of this function), or as "link only" - a simple
reminder email with a link to your collection (this saves email space).
You can easily cancel email deliveries using a link that comes with each
delivery.
If you have saved a collection, but not set a delivery for it and would
like to set one later or if you would like to change the settings of an
existing delivery, simply click on "Edit Collections" on your myQuickbrowse
menu, and then click on the "EditDelivery" link next to the collection for
which you would like to set a delivery. Collections that have a delivery set
have a red envelope icon next to them:

Can I turn off all the images on a Collection
Page so it loads faster?
Yes. Uncheck the "Images On" option in the "Collection List (advanced)"
Menu. To apply the new setting click the update button.
You can access this menu by clicking on "Edit Collections" from your
myQuickbrowse interface and then clicking "Collection List (advanced)".

Why do some sites not display
correctly?
There are some Internet sites which do not display correctly through
Quickbrowse. We appreciate your patience as we work on improving our technology.
Most commonly, sites display as "timed out", sites' content "bleeds" into
another site's content, or a site seems to be absent from a collection. Please
notify us of any site you find which is causing these problems.

Can I modify my collection so
that these sites behave correctly?
Yes. In most cases, switching on the "i-frame" option for a site causing
difficulties will help. When that option is selected for a Web address contained
in one of your collection, the corresponding page will be displayed within a
frame in your Quickbrowse page (preserving its character set as well). To turn
on the i-frame option, click on "Edit Collections", click the "EDIT" link next
to the collection that contains the Web address for which you want to turn on
the "i-frame" option; click on "Edit Specific Collection (advanced)"; check the
"i-frame" box next to the Web address for which you want to turn on this option;
click the "UPDATE" button on the bottom of the page; click on "Back to
myQuickbrowse" to return to your myQuickbrowse page; if you now click on the
collection, the page that caused difficulties will be displayed in i-frame mode.

While fixing some display problems, i-frame mode brings with it some
disadvantages:
1.) I-frame windows cannot automatically adjust to display the entire height
of a page; you might have to scroll within the i-frame window to display all
content, which causes an interruption while quickbrowsing.
2.) Pages displayed in an i-frame window don't have any of the Quickbrowse-specific
conveniences: links don't open in separate windows (they'll open within the i-frame
window with the rest of the Quickbrowse page unchanged; and you can't use the "Quickbrowse
This" feature (formerly QuickLinks) within an i-frame page (i.e. you can't click
all the links you want and then view them combined into another Quickbrowse
page).

Why are my collections delivered at
the wrong time?
To change the time a collection is delivered:
Log in to your account.
In myQuickbrowse, click the button marked "Edit Collections" under your
collection list.
Click "Edit Delivery" next to the collection delivery you wish to change.
If you have an "advanced delivery" click "Advanced Delivery Options"
Make the desired changes.
Click the button marked "Update".
**Please note** In order for Quickbrowse to deliver your collections at the
correct time, we must know the time zone you are located in. Please log in to
your account and click the button at the top of the page marked "my account".
Then change the "current time" option so that it reflects the time where you are
located.

How do I save a collection page?
After entering Web addresses into myQuickbrowse and clicking the button
marked "Quickbrowse" you will see a collection page containing all of the sites
you entered. At the top of the page, clicking the button marked "save
collection" will allow you to save a collection and create a Quickbrowse account
if you have not already signed up.

Can I Quickbrowse password-protected sites
or sites requiring registration?
Enter the web addresses of the sites you wish to view through Quickbrowse
into myQuickbrowse and click the button marked "Quickbrowse". If the page is
protected with standard password authentication, the first time Quickbrowse
attempts to build a Collection Page, a username / password menu will be
displayed. Simply enter the username and password and click the submit button. A
separate page will open. Disregard its content (usually it will show the page
you'd see after logging in). Close this page once it has fully loaded. The
Collection Page will reload and now display the password-protected page. If you
save the page, Quickbrowse will save the username and password information so
that you will not have to enter it again the next time you are displaying this
Collection Page.

How do I bookmark a collection page?
Once you have saved a collection, you can bookmark it in your browser for
easy retrieval. To bookmark a Quickbrowse collection use the favorites or
bookmark feature in your browser while you are viewing the collection.

How do I cancel an email delivery?
All email deliveries have a control panel in the header, which allows users
to control many functionalities, including the cancellation of the delivery.
Simply click "Off" under the heading "Delivery" to cancel an email delivery.
If for any reason this is inconvenient, log in to Quickbrowse and click the
appropriate envelope icon in your collection list. Select "No Delivery" and
click the button marked "Update".

How do I change the time or
frequency of an email delivery?
All email deliveries have a control panel in the header, which allows users

Can I view Web addresses that
change from day to day depending on the date? (i.e. http://www.exampledomain.com/990231/index.html)
Yes. Use &&yy for the two year digits, &&mm for the two month digits and &&dd
for the two day digits. For instance, if a web address in "normal" format reads
"http://www.exampledomain.com/990231/index.html" you would enter this URL as
"http://www.exampledomain.com/&&yy&&mm&&dd/index.html".
In addition the following substitutions are possible:
&&mf Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.
&&mc jan, feb, mar, etc.
&&ma JAN, FEB, MAR, etc.
&&df Mon, Tue, Wed, etc.
&&dc mon, tue, wed, etc.
&&da MON, TUE, WED, etc.

Quickbrowse will automatically insert the current date-dependent

Can I view sites hosted on secure
servers?
Allowing users to view such sites could cause a breach in security to the
data traveling back and forth between the user, Quickbrowse and the secure site.
In order to maintain data integrity and security, Quickbrowse does not allow
users to view secure sites.

Can I use Quickbrowse with a dialup connection?
Yes. In fact, Quickbrowse saves users with a dialup connection to the
Internet even more time, because while viewing the first page in a collection,
all the subsequent pages are loading.

Why are the sites I entered out of order?
By default Quickbrowse displays the Web pages in a collection in the order
they are loaded, so that users can view the fastest loading site first, rather
than waiting for ae site to load while others have finished. Some users prefer
to view the sites in the strict order they entered them. To view the sites in a
collection in strict order, login to Quickbrowse and in myQuickbrowse click the
button marked "Edit Collections" under your list of saved collections. Click the
link near the bottom of the page marked "Collection List (advanced)". Select the
corresponding check boxes under "Pages in Order" and click the button marked
"Update".

How can I change the order of the pages on my
Collection page?
Login to Quickbrowse, and in your myQuickbrowse page, click the "Edit
Collections" button under your list of saved collections. Click the "Edit" link
next to the collection you want to edit. Select the page/s that you want moved
to the beginning or end of your list by checking the associated checkboxes, then
clicking on the "Make First" or "Make First" buttons respectively. Do this until
your list is in the desired order.

How do I delete a collection?
Login to Quickbrowse and in myQuickbrowse click the button marked "Edit
Collections" under your list of saved collections. Check the boxes to the left
of the collections you want to delete and click the button marked "Delete".

How do I remove pages from a collection?
Simply display a collection and click on the "DELETE" button next to the
page you want to remove in the header section of the page. If you want to delete
multiple pages at once, login to Quickbrowse and in myQuickbrowse click the
button marked "Edit Collections" under your list of saved collections. Click the
link marked "edit" next to the collection you want to edit. Check the check
boxes to the left of the sites you want to remove and click "Delete".

How do I add Web pages to a collection?
Quickbrowse the new pages by adding their Web addresses into the input field
on your myQuickbrowse page (http://my.quickbrowse.com). Click the Quickbrowse
button. On the resulting Quickbrowse Page, click the "Add to existing
Collection" button on top of the page. Follow the instructions from there.
Alternately, you can login to Quickbrowse and in myQuickbrowse click the
button marked "Edit Collections" under your list of saved collections. Click the
link marked "edit" next to the collection you want to edit. Enter the Web
address you want to add in the text box next to the button marked "Add URL" and
click that button.
For bulk-adding of multiple Web address to an existing collection, click the
"EDIT COLLECTIONS" button in myQuickbrowse, click the EDIT link next to the
collection you want to add to, then click on the "Edit Collection (Advanced)"
link. There, paste the Web addresses into the input box provided.

What is "Catch This"?
Drag the "Catch This" button into your browser's "Links" toolbar or
bookmarks to easily add Web pages to your Quickbrowse collection. Whenever you
come across a page that you would like to add to one of your collections, with
the "Catch This" button on your browser's toolbar all it takes is a few clicks.
You won't have to cut and paste or type the Web address by hand. Go to
www.quickbrowse.com/catchthis.html to get the "Catch This" button for your
browser. No download required.

Can my email deliveries come as attachments? Can I
have the content displayed in the body of the email as opposed to just having an
attachment?
By default, if you set up an email delivery of a Quickbrowse Page, the
contents will be displayed inside the body of the email, and not as an
attachment. Some email programs are not able to handle this kind of rich email
deliveries (this is also called "inline"). In that case, Quickbrowse users can
choose to receive each collection as an attachment to an email. To receive a
collection as an attachment, login to Quickbrowse and in myQuickbrowse click the
appropriate envelope icon. Toward the bottom of the screen, click the link
marked "Advanced Delivery Options". Check the box corresponding to "Deliver as
Attachment" and click update.

I'm an AOL user. Why do all my deliveries
arrive as attachments?
AOL until recently has not been supporting email with inline Web content.
Therefore, if you use an email address ending on "aol.com" your deliveries will
always arrive as attachment. This restriction will be removed soon since AOL's
latest version now supports inline display.

How do I share my collections with my
friends?
When viewing a collection, click the link marked "Click here to send this
collection to a friend" at the top of the page. Follow the instructions to email
deliver the collection to a friend.

Why can't others view my collections
by visiting my links?
Some Quickbrowse users have collections, which contain sensitive information
such as stock or banking data. In order to preserve the security of the data, a
Quickbrowse collection is only available to the user who created the collection
while logged in to Quickbrowse. If a user's collections do not contain such
information, the collection can be "made public" by completing the following
steps:
Login to Quickbrowse and in myQuickbrowse click the button marked "Edit
Collections" under your list of saved collections. Click the link near the
bottom of the page marked "Collection List (advanced)". Select the corresponding
check boxes under "Make Public" and click the button marked "Update".

My deliveries are suspended. How do I
re-instate them?
At times, because of Internet congestion, server backups, or numerous other
technical issues, Quickbrowse is unable to send an email delivery to a specific
email address. If an email address "bounces" an email delivery from Quickbrowse
frequently, Quickbrowse will automatically suspend delivery.
To reinstate email deliveries, login to Quickbrowse and click the button
marked "MyAccount" at the top of the page. Select the option near the middle of
the page marked "Deliveries active" and click the button at the bottom of the
page marked "Update".

My deliveries are too big. Can they be made
smaller? (Iframes and Link-only option)
If you combine a lot of individual Web page into a Quickbrowse page
Collection and schedule that collection for email delivery, the resulting email
can grow quite big. Here are a couple ways to avoid this.
I-Frame (Internal Frame) option
One way to reduce the email size is by choosing "i-frame" mode for
individual pages within the collection. To turn on the i-frame option, click on
"Edit Collections", click the "EDIT" link next to the collection that contains
the Web address for which you want to turn on the "i-frame" option; click on
"Edit Specific Collection (advanced)"; check the "i-frame" box next to the Web
address for which you want to turn on this option; click the "UPDATE" button on
the bottom of the page; click on "Back to myQuickbrowse" to return to your
myQuickbrowse page; if you now click on the collection, the page that caused
difficulties will be displayed in i-frame mode.

Delivery as Link-only

"link only". In this format, the delivery is simply a reminder email with a link
to your collection. To do this, follow these instructions,
checking the "Deliver as Link Only" option instead of the "Deliver as
Attachment" option.

that button you can turn any Web page you are viewing in your browsing into

into a single Quickbrowse Page. The advantage of the Quickbrowse Plug-in over
the draggable "Quickbrowse This" button
is that the Plug-in will instantly switch a page into

Why don't I see the "Quickbrowse This"
button?
"Quickbrowse This" is a functionality on all Quickbrowse collection pages
which allows you to click on all the links you want to see and then view them "Quickbrowse-style"
all in one page. "Quickbrowse This" may not be available to certain users based
on their browser and operating system configuration. It is currently supported
by Microsoft Internet Explorer 5+ in Windows 95, 98, NT.

How can I prevent other people from looking at my
Collection Pages or getting into my account?
Make sure that you click on the "log off" button before you end working with
Quickbrowse, if preventing other people from accessing your Quickbrowse account
through your computer is an issue. Always log off when using Quickbrowse from a
public computer, for instance, at a cyber cafe. If you don't do this, people
using your computer will be able to access your account, view the contents of
collections and display them.
Also, be aware that collection that you mark as public (by default they
are not public) become visible to anyone going to your myQuickbrowse
Homepage or to anyone invoking the Quickbrowse link for that particular
collection.
Also, note that when you choose to send a Quickbrowse Page to a friend,
it automatically will be set to "public".
What limitations does Quickbrowse currently
have?
Some Web pages containing "fancy" html like absolute positioning and the
like may only display correctly in "i-frame"
- which only works with Microsoft's IE browser.
A Quickbrowse page cannot contain more than 30 individual Web pages.
Quickbrowse works best under Microsoft IE and Windows operating
system.While using Netscape browser and/or the Macintosh operating system
may very well work, you may encounter some problems. Due to our limited
resources, we do not support Netscape and Macintosh.
The Quickbrowse This feature works with IE 5+ Win only.

How safe are my personal user data?
We're making best-faith efforts to protect the integrity of your user data.
To protect yourself from other snooping in on your Quickbrowse Collections
(which might, after all, include password-protected sites if you choose so),
please keep in mind the following:
- When you log on to Quickbrowse, you remain logged on with the computer
you are using, even if you close your browser or turn off your computer.
The next time the computer is powered up and someone goes to your
Quickbrowse account, all your collections, including those not set to
public, will be accessible. This is a convenience feature. If you have
Quickbrowse collection that you need to keep from other eyes, ALWAYS log
off when your are finished using Quickbrowse.
- If you want to make some of your collections usable without having to
log on, you can set them to "public".
- People coming to your myQuickbrowse homepage are able to see all
collections set to public.
- When you create collections they are by default not set to public
- If you use the "send this collection to a friend" feature, the
collection you are sharing is automatically set to public, ie. people
coming to your myQuickbrowse homepage would be able to see the collection
and display it.
- If your collections contain pages requiring username and
password, and if you are logged on, people using your computer will be
able to browse these collection.
- If your collections contain pages requiring usernames and
passwords and if you set these collection to public people using computers
not logged on to your account will need the usernames and passwords to
display these collections despite the fact that you set them to public.
- Quickbrowse is not liable for any damage arising from your including
username/password protected or confidential collections in your account or
with the Quickbrowse service.

processed via Paypal, an Ebay-owned company, guaranteeing maximum safety.
