A Morrocan newspaper reports that Quickbrowse is being used to circumvent Web censorship
in repressive countries. "A new free service on the web challenging the
censorship. Don't go to forbidden sites... Let them come to you!" reads the
headline in Azzaman (www.azzaman.com), a daily
newspaper circulated in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, US and Canada. The author
points out how the email delivery feature in Quickbrowse can be used to view Web pages
even if browsers prevented from accessing these page directly.
The original article and an English translation is available at http://www.quickbrowse.com/press/azzaman/.
"We did not design our software to avoid censorship in foreign countries. But we
are proud it is being used as a tool to enhance free speech though out the world"
says Marc Fest, CEO of Quickbrowse. But he says, as a former journalist himself, he is
especially happy about this unexpected use of Quickbrowse. "The most rewarding use of
Quickbrowse I have heard of to date. "
Marc, adds, "we learn of new applications weekly". Similar to the censorship
case described in Azzaman, some US users say that they use Quickbrowse to avoid their IT
and Human Resources departments restrictions for using the Web.
Marc explains that "Quickbrowses users set up collections of different
web-pages on a Quickbrowse page and then use the free services e-mail function to
receive the page daily. Although the e-mail can contain dozens of web pages the corporate
server will only recognize the Quickbrowse IP address and therefore will be unaware of the
actual content included in the e-mail.
We are addressing a problem faced by so many Internet users. In its basic form
Quickbrowse enables users to browse large amounts of web-based information both easier and
faster by combining favorite sites inside a single fast view page. Do you know anyone who
does not want to read more and more critical information but is confronted with the time
obstacle?
