Have you been
growing gray hair and forming wrinkles while you sift through your
favorite websites each day? Quickbrowse.com is a free metabrowser that may save
you some time.
Metabrowsing enables Internet surfers to view several webpages at
once, on one continuous, scrollable page. This means you can view
hair dye and wrinkle cream sites at the same time without having to
open separate windows.
Quickbrowse was developed by Marc Fest, a former freelance
journalist and native of Germany. As a journalist, Fest used to
spend hours reading papers online. "Who's got time for that?" he
said.
Having learned a little programming in high school, Fest wrote
the code for Quickbrowse himself. "It cut down my daily research
chore from two hours to 20 minutes," he said. Now he can spend less
time browsing the Web and more time surfing the
beaches of Miami.
Quickbrowse.com allows you to view up to 20 pages at one time. In
addition, the service gives you the option of highlighting links
within the sites and having those links viewed on another continuous
page.
"You can also build weekly deliveries, for instance, for Walt
Mossberg's Thursday column in the Wall Street Journal, or for
Newsweek's table of contents every Monday when the new issue comes
out," Fest said.
Fest also developed another tool called qbSearch to help
Internet users scan through search results faster.
The Quickbrowse.com homepage is not very user friendly for
everyday use. The homepage is best used for creating an account and
having your metapage sent to your own email address.
