Quickbrowse.com offers
a variation on metasearching it dubs metabrowsing. The site offers
two research methods. One, called QB Masterpage, enables
simultaneous browsing of multiple Web pages. Users enter one or more
Web addresses to retrieve the content of those pages. They then may
save the "collection" for future browsing, which incorporates page
updates, or opt to have it emailed to them daily.
Here's an example of how
it might work: Let's say you want to keep up with research and
search engine news, but don't have time daily to check your favorite
sites. Enter URLs from The Virtual Chase, LLRX.com, Researchbuzz,
and Search Engine Showdown. Review initial results and then select
to have them emailed to you daily.
The second portion of
the site, called QB Search, works like a meta search service. Enter
keywords, select the search engines, and run the search. An
interesting feature lets users select the number of results pages
they want. Another lets users save the query as a bookmark for
future use. |
